CARE Culture: Restore Purpose

ARTICLE TOPICS

“Empower your employees to rediscover their passion, confidence and commitment to excellence, so that together you can accomplish extraordinary things. Create an empathetic and mindful environment that fosters work-life balance, values individuals, and celebrates accomplishments.”

A guest post contribution by ProCARE Intern, Prithika

For a workplace to be vibrant and productive, passion needs to be present. When employees feel passionate about their work, they are more motivated, engaged and committed to achieving extraordinary outcomes.

One way to re-energize passion and purpose is to create a culture of purpose and meaning within the company. Leaders can communicate their vision clearly and communicate how each employee’s actions fit into the bigger picture. Employees see the results of their actions and feel a new level of passion and satisfaction by connecting individual roles to the larger picture.

Southwest Airlines does a great job of this. By trusting its employees and putting the power of the people in their hands, Southwest promotes purpose and passion within their workplace. Connecting employees with their customers helps them connect to the bigger picture and the mission of Southwest Airlines. Another company that does this is Oskhkosh. This technology and manufacturing company allows employees to see their individual impact on their clients by promoting a culture of growth and allowing a wide variety of perspectives.

An efficient way you can restore enthusiasm in the workplace is to create opportunities for growth. If employees feel stuck in a role or stuck in a rut, their motivation and enthusiasm can fade over time.

Organizations should prioritize programs for continuous learning and development. Baylor, Scott &White Health is a non-profit that follows this ideology entirely. The non-profit promotes education by offering tuition reimbursement. These programs should include mentorship initiatives, training sessions, and/or opportunities for cross-functional collaboration.

Another great example of an organization that follows this principle is ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology). At ASCO, they have various mentorship initiatives that help support employee growth and professional development.

Not only do these programs broaden employees’ knowledge and skills, but they also provide new challenges and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
